Delaware County Bird Club: Christmas Bird Count Preview, Monday, December 10, 6:30pm - 8pm, Deer Haven Park - Anyone interested in birds is welcome to attend the Delaware County Bird Club meetings. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the speaker starts at 7 p.m. There also is time for socializing and to share bird sightings. Explore the rich history of the Christmas Bird Count, focusing on our count here in Delaware. This year the count itself takes place on December 16th and will be the 31st annual count for our circle. Our meeting on the 10th is a great opportunity for birders new to our area to learn about the Christmas Bird Count and how to participate. We will discuss counting techniques as well as have some fun estimating flock size from photographs. We will also challenge you to identify some mystery photos and/or sounds. LEARN MORE


Ebenezer Duke: A Musical Retelling of "A Christmas Carol", Tuesday, December 11, 6:30pm - 7:30pm, Orange Branch, Delaware Library - Ages 6 - 11. Duke Otherwise is a playful wordsmith, a spirited performer, a skilled guitarist and captivating tap-dancer from Madison, Wisconsin. Recommended for children ages 6-11, "Ebenezer Duke" is a mini-musical, a 45-minute re-telling of "A Christmas Carol" told through original songs, storytelling/acting, tap dance, and audience participation. Second Look Day, Wednesday, December 12, 7:55am - 10:47am, Delaware Area Career Center - Second Look Day is a great time for students who are interested in attending the Delaware Area Career Center to see teachers and current students in action. Visiting students will come to DACC in the morning and visit the two labs of their choice. If you want to know what it’s like to be a student at DACC, go ahead and ask! Our students are happy to talk to you about the experiences they have here, both in academic classes and in their labs. Delaware County District Library Orange Branch Featured Supporter 

The Orange Branch is located in Orange Township just north of the township's fire station, park and pool. At 33,000 square feet, this branch has a drive-up book drop and drive through pick-up window, along with many other special green building features. The building also houses our Outreach Services Department and Imagination Garden. Find out about our Winter Readers Club!  Also, cardholders have free access to online educational courses from Lynda.com. Access to this learning tool was announced earlier this summer via a statewide partnership between the Ohio Library Council, the Ohio Public Library Information Network, and LinkedIn.  Add the library to your holiday plans!

Hike Ohio! - Novices of the outdoors - This group is for anyone who likes to hike and walk on nature trails, backpacking trails and just about anywhere in the great outdoors. All those who are dedicated to hiking excursions in Ohio, with a focus on leaving no trace of litter on our lands can join us! We will get together for evening hikes on metro parks trails, gather for day hikes in the Ohio State park and forest system and maybe even do overnight trips if anyone is interested. Lace up your hikers and hit the trail with us! And don't forget to check out the Polls section to vote on when/where to go on the next hike.
