Electronics Recycling Event, Saturday, April 21, 10am - 12pm, Home Depot - Orange Township will hold its 2nd Annual Electronics Recycling Event in honor of Earth Day. Over 24,000 pounds of old, outdated and unwanted electronics were collected during the 2017 event. Volunteers will be on hand in the southwest corner of the Home Depot (8704 Owenfield Drive) parking lot to collect your unwanted electronics. Items accepted: TV’s, computers, laptops, servers, cell phones, keyboards, mice, computer cables, tables, LCD monitors, printers, UPS & battery backups, phone equipment, lead acid batteries, car batteries, networking equipment, routers, cameras, stereo equipment, power tools, video game systems, cable boxes, and most items that plug in, work on batteries or is a cord or cable. Please note the cost to dispose of a Flat Panel TV (LED, LCD or Plasma) is $10.00, a CRT Monitor is $10.00 and all other TVs (CRT, Rear Projection, DLP, etc) is $40.00. Hangry 5k, 10k, 15k, Saturday, April 21, 8am - 11am, Highbanks Metro Park - This year we are bringing some extra challenges with offering multiple distances. If you are up for the extra fun, register for the 10k or 15k! The 5k will be the same loop we have done previously (perhaps we will do it backwards), the 10k will have its own course, and the 15k gets to have the excitement of doing both of them! Orange Branch Library Hosts ‘Human Library’ Event

The Delaware County District Library (DCDL) will host its first Human Library event at the Orange Branch Library on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The Human Library concept is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. On the date of the event, library patrons are invited to ‘check out’ a human ‘book’ for 30-minute conversations. The Tuesday Triathlon - Free Training Event, Tuesday, May 29,  6pm - 8pm, Alum Creek State Park - Are you getting ready for an upcoming triathlon and would like the opportunity to put your training all together in a "timed" event? Then join us for "The Tuesday Triathlon" on Tuesday evening, May 29 for an unofficial official semi-organized unorganized triathlon.  Just like you, we have to get ready for multisport season so we will be practicing setting up an event, working on transition set-up, etc and coordinating our timing experience.  You can come out to Alum Creek State Park - Beach area and we will time your swim, bike and run.  NOTE: This is an unsupported event. Summer Enrichment 2018, June 4 -14, 9am - 11:45am and 12:15pm - 3pm, Olentangy School Buildings - Are you looking for an enrichment opportunity for your child this summer?  During this experience, students entering grades 1-12 will be able to take part in a fun and engaging learning environment where they choose their area of enrichment. All courses will be taught by Olentangy teachers in Olentangy buildings. Students may register for one course per session. Courses include: Animation, Choose Your Own Adventure, Coding, Cooking, Creative Writing, Cursive, Debate, Drama, Fine Motor Fun, FitLab, Game Strategy/Chess, Games Around the World, Nature Survival, Olentangy Ninja, The News Room, Visual Arts, and Webpage Design. Central Ohio Aquathon, Saturday, June 9, 7am - 10am, Alum Creek State Park - The Central Ohio Aquathlon is a great opportunity whether you are swimming in open water and finishing with a run for the first time to an experienced triathlete looking to have fun, train and improve your open water swim and challenge yourself with run after the swim. There are several distances to choose.  Aquathlon distances and schedule:  7:00 am - 2.0 mile swim + 1.0 mile run; 8:45 am - 1.0 mile swim + 1.0 mile run;  9:30 am - .50 miles + 1.0 mile run.  Must be a USAT member or purchase a USAT 1-day license for $15. Central Ohio Triathlon & Duathlon Challenge, Sunday, June 10, 7:15am - 11am, Alum Creek State Park - There is no better way to kick-off your season then with the Central Ohio Triathlon & Duathlon Challenge. Race weekend consists of multiple distance options, including the Central Ohio Super Sprint, Sprint, Olympic, and TripleTri Challenges. MingoMan Youth Splash-n-Dash, Saturday, June 23, 8am - 10am, Delaware State Park - Calling the youth of Central Ohio and those of the Mingoman Triathlon participants to Delaware State Park on Saturday, June 23 for a fun and fast-growing sport that combines running and swimming - the Mingoman Youth Splash & Dash. The swim will take place in the Delaware reservoir (water depth 3-4 feet) and the run on the trails around Delaware State Park.  The focus is on PARTICIPATION rather than competition. The event will expose youth participants to USA Triathlon and the exciting world of multisport! Participants will be timed but finishes are not awarded special recognition. 5th Annual MingoMan Triathlon & Duathlon, Sunday, June 24, 7:30am - 12:30pm, Delaware - On June 24, 2018, the 5th annual MingoMan Triathlon & Duathlon will be packed with heart-pounding action as a point-to-point triathlon starting with a swim in the reservoir of Delaware State Park, a bike race to the heart of the City of Delaware, and finally an exciting run through the streets of Delaware. The fifth annual “Miles for Smiles 5K Run/Walk,” presented by North Orange Family Dentistry, Saturday, July 28, 8am, North Orange Park in Lewis Center.  The proceeds from the race will benefit the Free to Smile Foundation. Free to Smile Foundation is dedicated to supporting and sustaining comprehensive, quality surgical and dental services to poor and underprivileged children and adolescents throughout the world. Triathlon for Hope (All Female), Saturday, August 18, 8am - 11am, Alum Creek State Park - This is the 7th annual all-female triathlon designed to raise awareness about early detection of breast cancer, research into eradicating the disease, recognizing the survivors and those living with breast cancer, and remembering those who have been lost to this terrible disease. The proceeds from the event are donated to local breast cancer organizations to fund breast cancer research and awareness activities. The past six years, the event has contributed several thousand dollars to local breast cancer charitable organizations through your participation in this triathlon.  LEARN MORE

Hike Ohio! - Novices of the outdoors - This group is for anyone who likes to hike and walk on nature trails, backpacking trails and just about anywhere in the great outdoors. All those who are dedicated to hiking excursions in Ohio, with a focus on leaving no trace of litter on our lands can join us! We will get together for evening hikes on metro parks trails, gather for day hikes in the Ohio State park and forest system and maybe even do overnight trips if anyone is interested. Lace up your hikers and hit the trail with us! And don't forget to check out the Polls section to vote on when/where to go on the next hike. The Orange Township Veterans Memorial is moving forward. There will be several ways that individuals and families, clubs, organizations and businesses can donate to help make it a reality! The memorial's cost will be paid for through donations, not township funds. Help recognize and celebrate those who have served our country!

The ReStore will be shifting its hours beginning Oct 1st. Open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Habitat ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers whose proceeds are used to build homes, communities and hope locally and around the world, helping to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Every Wed - 15% Military Discount with ID; Every Thurs - 15% Senior Discount, 60+ with ID.
